Faith

I am a really hard worker, and I am proud of how much I have grown as a student. In the past, I had a paraprofessional with me in many of my classes. Over time, my teachers challenged me to try things more independently. I learned how to ask classmates questions and find support. The experience helped me realize that I am capable and confident, even when something feels new at first.

Outside of school, I am involved in many activities that I love. I have been horseback riding since I was about five years old. I take lessons on and off, and I enjoy horse shows and spending time around horses. I also dance and have been involved with Minnesota Ballet since I was four years old. Ballet has been a big part of my life, and it brings me joy. I also like animals and have a cat at home.

In school, I enjoyed classes like economics and personal finance, and I was part of Coffee Club. I also enjoy creative writing. I am still exploring what topics I like to write about, but I enjoy creative writing and expressing myself.

When I think about my future, I am open to learning about many different types of work. I know that I like working indoors, and I am comfortable working with people. I am interested in exploring office work or healthcare. One thing I know is that I do not want to work with animals, even though I like them. I also sometimes think about how my interests, like dance, could connect to a future job, such as becoming a dance teacher.

College is something I really want. I am excited about learning, taking classes, meeting new instructors, making friends, and being more independent. Being part of the college experience matters to me, and I am interested in getting involved, maybe even helping as a mascot. I know I usually feel nervous at first when starting something new, but once I get comfortable, my confidence grows, and I start to enjoy it.

What matters most to me about college is independence. I want to explore my interests, learn what I want to learn, and figure out what I want for my future. In five or ten years, I hope to be living more independently, making my own decisions, and having my own place. I know I am not there yet, and that is okay. I believe college can help me get there.

One important thing I want people to know about me is that I need time to think and to find my words. I want to use my own voice, and I want people to give me space to speak for myself. Being able to advocate for myself is important to me.
